About Gutierrez Hubbell House Alliance

 A Board member since 2009, Flora has previously served as Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary and lead on various board projects. She also serves as an interpretive museum guide. Flora is a retired educator, served eight years as elected member, and three-term president of the New Mexico State Board of Education, and before fully retiring, contracted with a nonprofit in Minneapolis, MN for whom she provided hundreds of presentations in 48 U.S. states and in several foreign countries on four continents. She enjoys gardening and travel. 

 Raised in the vibrant South Valley, Robert has run a small business that sustains his livelihood and provides opportunities for his community members. Robert is dedicated to fostering growth and prosperity for all.

As a devoted husband to a lifelong educator and a loving father of four, Robert's family values are a testament to his strength and compassion. His dedication to his loved ones extends into his role as a community leader.

Since 2007, Robert has been a key part of the GHH Alliance board, taking on various roles to ensure the organization's mission is carried out with integrity. Additionally, he serves as the president of the Pajarito Village Association, directly impacting the lives of his community members. Through his leadership, the association advocates for progress and inclusivity.

Robert's philanthropic spirit shines brightly. He was honored with the South Valley Outstanding Citizen award in 2008 and again in 2024 for his exceptional volunteer work, underscoring his commitment to uplifting others and creating a harmonious society. Robert’s journey is one of devotion, leadership, and love – an inspiring narrative that continues to unfold with every step he takes.

American costume designer Nora Chavez was born and raised in south Texas. Her collection of China Poblana outfits and research materials, books, swatches, and sequins are cherished were displayed at the Gutierrez Hubbell House in 2022. It was followed by the Baca Family Weddings Exhibit in 2022-2023. This exhibit can be seen on YouTube.

After attending college in Texas, Nora moved to Los Angeles to study and to pursue a career in fashion design and costuming. She attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising where she graduated in 1981. She earned her BBA in 2004 majoring in Business Administration and Global Marketing. Nora has worked over 30-years in fundraising and development with non-profit organizations in Los Angeles and Albuquerque.
